The following instructions explain how to add a Terms and Conditions link to a footer in WordPress website, assuming that your website already has a Terms and Conditions Page. If your site doesn’t already have a Terms and Conditions Page, one can be added by following the instructions from How to create a Terms and Conditions Page for WordPress.

For AccesssPress theme

If your website uses an AccessPress theme then the Terms and Conditions link can be added to the footer using the steps outlined below.

  1. Sign into WordPress
  2. Select Appearance -> Select Widgets
  3. On the Widgets page -> Under Available Widgets -> Locate the Text Widget -> Drag the Text Widget and drop it on the Footer 1, Footer 2, Footer 3, or Footer 4
  4. On the Text Widget -> Select the Expand Arrow -> For the Title, enter Support  -> For the Content, enter <a href=”http://www.yoursite.com/terms-and-conditions”>Terms and Conditions</a><br /> -> Select Save

For HoverDroids theme

If your website uses a HoverDroids theme then the Terms and Conditions link can be added to the footer using the steps outlined below.

Using Footer.php

Be wary when modifying footer.php manually because the theme used by your website may dynamically generate the footer code. If it does, you should not modify footer.php directly and should use the same methods used by the theme creator. If your website’s theme only reads footer.php then the Terms and Conditions link can be added to the footer using the steps outlined below.

  1. Sign into WordPress
  2. Select Appearance -> Select Editor
  3. On the Editor page -> Under Templates -> Select footer.php -> Select Proceed under Editing this code is highly discouraged. Proceed with caution.
  4. Copy all code from footer.php to a text editor -> Save a backup as footer-bak.php
  5.  Paste <a href=”http://www.yoursite.com/terms-and-conditions”>Terms and Conditions</a><br /> into footer.php
  6. Select Update File
